Red Dwarf X Is Smegging Here!

In just a few hours time we can sit down and finally enjoy (subscription to Dave required) the long-awaited new series of Red Dwarf!

The stars of the show (minus Danny John-Jules who is out in Guadeloupe filming a second series of Death in Paradise) recently chatted with Digital Spy about the new show, which drops some of the OTT aspects of the eighth series (and the sci-fi heavy elements of the show since the mid-1990s) and goes “back to basics” with a handful of sets and a live audience.

We’re too old for adventures now… We’re far too old to be flying around space saving the universe. Sit at home, feet up, pipe and slippers, bit of conversation.

Chris Barrie considers the new run as “classic Red Dwarf”.

It’s classic Red Dwarf, as we knew it from series one to eight, which I guess the fans are really comfortable with. It could well be some of the best shows we’ve ever made.

To really get you in the mood, here’s a trailer via Digital Spy.

And finally, some sneak peaks…

Red Dwarf X starts tonight with the episode Trojan on Dave (Sky 111, Virgin 128, Freeview 12) at 9pm! For more coverage, Dan Martin’s piece in The Guardian is certainly worth a read.
